AI Use Case Checklist: Is This Worth Building?

Use This Checklist Before You Build

Not every AI idea is worth building. A good use case should improve a real task, have clear boundaries, and be easy to review.

The Checklist

  • Task: What work should AI help with?
  • Input: What data, file, prompt, or app starts the workflow?
  • Output: What should AI produce?
  • Value: Does it save time, improve quality, reduce risk, or support revenue?
  • Risk: Does it touch sensitive data or customer-facing work?
  • Review: Who checks the result before it is used?
  • Measurement: How will you know it worked?

Build the Clear Use Case First

If you cannot describe the task, output, review step, and value, the use case needs more definition before it becomes a project.
