AI Use Case Decision Flowchart: Which Use Case Should You Try First?

Choose the First Use Case by Value and Risk

The best first AI use case is not the flashiest one. It is the one that is repeated, useful, safe to review, and easy to measure.

The Decision Flow

  • Is the task repeated? If no, improve it manually first.
  • Does it create clear value? Look for time saved, better output, fewer errors, or revenue support.
  • Can AI draft, summarize, organize, or recommend? Start there before letting AI take actions.
  • Does it touch sensitive data? Add privacy rules and review gates.
  • Will the output affect customers, money, legal issues, or safety? Require human approval.
  • Can you measure the result? Track speed, quality, handoffs, or decisions improved.

Start Small

Choose one workflow, test it safely, then expand only after the result is useful and reviewed.
